Marshals are resistant to leaving their posts at the height of Christmas travel.
As President Biden’s administration plans to end enforcement of the pandemic-era Title 42, officials expect even more migrants to cross the southern U.S. border. Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is pulling air marshals off commercial flights and transferring them to the border to aid in processing migrants illegally entering the country.
There are 3,000 highly-specialized and trained air marshals who are trained to monitor high-risk flights on board commercial planes under the Transportation Security Administration. Sonya LaBosco, Executive Director of the Air Marshal National Council, has requested that the administration stop pulling marshals from the sky at one of the busiest travel times of the year.
She stated, “We have been depleted. We’re on less than one percent of flights.” She added, “These ground-based duties that they’re pulling us out of the sky to go to the border are just demolishing our defenses at stopping another 9/11.”
Air marshals are reportedly preparing to refuse reassignment orders to the border from the administration. “The rank and file air marshals are going to refuse to deploy and risk termination,” said David Londo, president of the Air Marshal National Council.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Mayorkas to seek God’s leading as he deals with the shortage of border agents.
- For Administrator Pekoske as he heads the Transportation Security Administration.
- For discernment for the air marshals as they respond to the reassignment orders.
